I thought better weather was on the way when I saw the swallows had come back on the 12th of may,but I was wrong. Friday night the ground was white with hail stones.Sunday I heard the cuckoo, which always makes me think of summer, and the weather forcast  is loooking quite good. We have had a few brave campers this year and one was  from france in March he was brave. I have just turned the cows and calves out, they have had a mad half hour galloping round the field it seems like it as been the longest winter ever.Coffee time over ,off to worm some sheep.

Dear Guests I hope the weather is warmer with you. We have still got snow where it drifted and the easterly wind makes it very cold. The pictures of the completed camping barn are below and when you get the woodburner lit they are very cosy.We are still busy with the sheep lambing and cows calving. Dear Guests we have had a change of weather snow. we have had a few inches for a week but last night we got more than our share I think around 6" . We are now snowed in and nothing looks very happy in the animal world. The camping barn is coming on. I have been having fun trying to find comfy mattresses for the beds, the floor as been tiled ,the upstairs is finished and painted,we are waiting for the plumber then the wet room can be tiled. The outside stone facing as been started but the rain and last weeks frost makes it hard work but they are getting there. I started writing this at 10.00am and it was lovely and sunny it is now 17.00 and pouring down, the weather is back to normal. I took some photos on my phone today I will try and upload them later. I cant wait for summer long hot sunny days no rain in sight.You can always dream Bye for now carole

December Diary

Dear Guests

Here we are celebrating Christmas day - hope you are all having a very very merry Christmas (I am .....!).  My neighbour has popped round for one drink and he is still here - he has just had some tea (he has been really chatty since he arrived and he brought a bottle of gin, so I am not complaining!). 

The camping barns are taking longer than expected but I have to say they are looking lovely - I cannot wait until they are finished.  The awful weather has delayed the builders and prevented them completing to schedule, however I have started shopping for homeware bits and pieces in readiness.

Santa was really kind this year, he brought me my very own tractor so I am totally independent - I can manage to feed the animals without my son's supervision.  It's fab - it's a nice old green John Deere - it's old like me and is not computerised (I could not manage to drive my son's tractor, so this one is much more me).

I have had a really busy day feeding all the animals, I hope they are all going to do OK as it has been so wet for them - hopefully early 2013 will see some dry weather. 

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all very much for your support during 2012 and to wish you all the very best for a happy and healthy New Year.
